CompleteROI Learning Evaluations measure what training participants have learned from courses taken.

Corresponding to Level 2 of Kirkpatrick's and Phillips' ROI models, the Learning Evaluation component of the CompleteROI system administers pre- and post-assessments or self-rated achievement reports to training participants. It allows administrators to view reports that compare test results between classes or training programs. End users can be assessed directly by the Learning Evaluation application, or indirectly through paper-and-pencil exams or through observational evaluation in performance-based tests.

Typical items in learning evaluations include:

• Before-and-after self-ratings of performance related to particular corporate objectives
• Before-and-after assessment questions to test knowledge of objective-related functions

For the most accurate learning evaluation results, it is helpful to establish a control group of people who did not participate in the training program but are in work roles similar to the participants.

Using the Learning Evaluation component, administrators can:

• Administer assessments and self-rated achievement reports, either directly to end users online, or indirectly with paper and pencil or through focus interviews.
• Design the content, layout, and scoring systems of assessments.
• Edit, administer, and display the results of individual assessments.
• View summary reports that clearly display users' responses to each question in the assessment along with correct answer.
• View the percentage of users that assign a particular response to a question, and the range of responses.
• Import data into Microsoft Excel or databases for further processing.
• Display graphs comparing average learning acquired for instructors and courses.
• View reports by hierarchy, possibly including geographical region and class type.
• View summary statistics on the number of assessments returned.
• Display a list of best and worst course performers in learning improvement.
• Establish reaction goals or benchmarks and compare individual course performance to these benchmarks.
